June 14, 2010

71 golfers enjoyed the sunshine at our 15th annual Golf Classic.  In addition to an afternoon of networking and great prizes, golfers enjoyed a steak dinner. Thanks to the generosity of the contestants at the putting green, $275 was raised for the Regina Humane Society.

Supreme Basics, and Teknion, together with IFMA Regina, hosted a Knowledge Forum. Three free sessions addressed topics influencing the modern workplace. 60 people attended.

April 26 - 29, 2010

Two competency courses were instructed by Meredith Thatcher, Thatcher Consulting. 19 students attended Planning and Project Management; 7 students attended Innovation and Quality Assessment.

Our second annual Facility Management Round Table was a lively discussion that spanned 3 hours and touched on 3rd party food providers, developing and maintaining furniture standards, security, low voltage DC infrastructure, energy auditing software, customer satisfaction surveys, waste audits, janitorial contracts and benchmarks,  and alternate roof systems. 13 people attended.

January 14, 2010

P3Arch provided a tour of the new Saskatchewan Disease Control Lab at Innovation Place. The $45 million facility will qualify for LEED Silver at a minimum and will be one of North America’s top labs. 26 People toured the facility. Appetizers were served at the Lazy Owl afterward.

David Patterson, LEED AP, Regional VP, Western Canada for Teknion, delivered a session on Effictive Presentaions to 17 registrants. David discussed how to prepare for, build, and deliver a presentation, and the structure of a good speech.

32 members and guests convened at the Rooftop Bar and Grill in Regina for our annual Holiday Dinner and Networking Event.

October 27, 2009

John Ziegler and Jason Fisher led tours of Supreme Basic’s innovative new facility. Participants were able to see all of the products featured in Supreme’s furniture show room put to use in other departments.

The Annual General meeting and swearing in of the 2009-2011 Board of Directors followed the tour.

A Saskatoon luncheon and tour drew 16 participants. John Thompson, Leadership Saskatoon delivered a message about Leadership and Mentoring. Helen Christensen then led a tour of Cameco’s new Operation Centre.

Carlos Roldan led 12 registrants on a tour of FCC tower where a restacking project has required over 700 moves and 100,000 square feet of renovations.  Refreshments and networking in pedway followed.

Lindsay Lofthouse discussed the City of Regina’s Waste Minimization Initiatives and current residential programs that may become part  of the City’s Solid Waste plan for the commercial sector at our Waste Minimization Luncheon.

17 registrants participated in this luncheon.

April 24, 2009

Our Facility Management Round Table attracted 17 registrants. A brief ice-breaking activity allowed registrants to share their largest F.M. concern and accomplishment. The discussion then moved to building and tenant/staff security; 24 hour building protection, open office VS. walled office, and sound masking. Participants were able to share their challenges and learn from others’ ideas and practices.

March 4-5, 2009

David A. Henrichon MS, CPE, FMA, FMP presented  the Core Competency course Operations and Maintenance. Operations and maintenance functions comprise the majority of the operations that have to be managed on a day-to-day basis and are the source of 95 to 97 percent of the problems that can occur. Providing Best Practices O&M service can increase customer satisfaction and enhance the value of the facility and the facility department.

19 people attended this core competency.

March 3, 2009

We hosted a tour of  the College of Law building at the University of  Saskatchewan. The newly expanded, LEED gold building, which took just over two years and $16.5 million to complete, features state-of-the-art classrooms with multi-media capabilities, a new student lounge, offices for student organizations, additional administrative space and a new home for the University’s nationally renowned Native Law Centre. More than half of the building is covered by a living roof, the largest of its kind in Saskatchewan. The tour was followed by a reception at Adina’s restaurant.

March 2-3, 2009

David A. Henrichon MS, CPE, FMA, FMP presented  the Core Competency course Leadership and Management. This competency area presents the FM as a planner, organizer, leader, coordinator, and evaluator.

17 people attended this core competency.

February 28, 2009

Marianna Finn, Account Manager, Sound-Rite Acoustics provided a presentation on acoustical solutions, including sound masking and absorptive components.

Brian Mohr, Acting Manager, Sustainable Supply Development, SaskPower explained the current status of the electricity generation system serving the province and future options for providing electricity to Saskatchewan.
